A well crafted gift!
When I saw the clips for Tim Burton's movie, I wasn't impressed. When the sountrack came out, I listened to snippets of the songs and became intrigued, so downloaded it. WOW! The songs are not knock offs made to fit the story, but artists familiar with the work. Robert Smith and Franz Ferdinand's contributions stand out the most to me right now, but as other reviewers have stated, the whole album grows on you, and in a good sort of way. ( Being old, I like the remake of White Rabbit. Owl City is a band I need to explore more. ) I'm more desirious of seeing the movie now, and see how the songs intertwine with the film! Get this! It's great! Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Almost Alice
It was a birthday present and my birthday girl really loved it. I didn't listen to it but she was really delighted with it. Sunday, July 4th, 2010

ALMOST ALICE AMAZING!
I love this album! I love Avril Lavigne's "Alice"...it perfectly complements the movies, in addition to all the other songs. Some of my favorites are Owl City's "The Technicolor Phase," Plain White T's "Welcome to Mystery," and Shinedown's "Her Name is Alice." I love how Alice speaks in the beginning of "Her Name is Alice." This album is eerie and has a strange feel to it--in a good way, since the movie has the same tone. This soundtrack is amazing--nothing unexpected. Thursday, July 1st, 2010

One of the worst releases of 2010, REALLY!
The problem with this collection is there simply aren't any good songs. In a nutshell no material! The "songs" sound like remnant audio tracks that lyrics were forced to fit into. No flow of melody whatsoever. Ditto for the audio backing tracks. In most cases just layered parts which most of the time do not fit together or meld into a decent "groove". There is nothing memorable or possessing any resemblance of well crafted "ear candy". Yes, not even 1 good single!
The only real song is a Jefferson Airplane cover which is almost identical to the original. If that's the case why not simply license the original and include it on here? Probably it would have cost more in royalties or BMG refused to let it go.
Whoever compiled this collection probably has no musical background to understand what makes a song good or bad. It's a case of having a product ready to sell at a specific time frame rather that release something that has a quality cohesiveness to it. If you want to know why the current music business gets tagged for having nothing worthwhile to buy, this CD is a perfect example of that. Sad, very very sad. File under should not have been released.
